Q&A

Do I need to be a pilot to become a partner in the aircraft?

No. The aircraft can be flown by a professional pilot and you can enjoy private, non-stop transport to a wide variety of regional destinations.

The aircraft may also be used for flight training towards a pilot license. In this case, the partner would be required to obtain necessary additional insurance.

What requirements must be met to operate the aircraft under the existing insurance?

The partner does not need necessarily need to be a pilot or meet any specific training requirement.

To satisfy existing policy requirements, the operator must have 350 hours of flying experience, an instrument rating, and completed the Cirrus transition training program.

Pilots not meeting these requirements can optionally obtain supplemental insurance at their own expense.

Would you consider joint trips with the partner?

We were fortunate to have an excellent personal relationship with the existing partner and sometimes were able to schedule joint trips, with direct expenses split evenly.

We would love to be able to schedule joint trips with a new partner if scheduling and circumstances permit.

Does the partner need to be based at KGPI?

While a GPI-based partner would be ideal, a partner could also be based at a nearby airport with calendar-based time sharing. Nearby airports include Coeur d’Alene (KCOE), Sandpoint (KSZT), Spokane (KGEG, KSFF), Missoula (KMSO), Helena (KHLN), and Bozeman (KBZN).

Arrangements would have to be made to transport the aircraft according to the agreed upon sharing schedule, with costs split between partners.

What are your typical destinations?

We travel regularly to Seattle, Salt Lake City, and the Bay Area on business.

We also do some recreational trips to nearby ski destinations such as Big Sky, Jackson Hole, and Revelstoke.

Can the aircraft carry skis/snowboards and bikes?

One or both of the rear seats can be lowered, allowing skis/snowboards and bikes to be loaded.

With skis/snowboards, a single seat can be lowered leaving capacity for 3 persons.

A single bike can be loaded while retaining capacity for 3 persons. Two or three bikes may be loaded with both seats down, leaving room for 2.
